Film release was hush-hush: UR Ananthamurthy

The film ‘Samskara’ was released without much fanfare because there was a threat that it would be banned. This was disclosed by the seminal novel’s writer UR Ananthamurthy at the Experimenta 2013 film festival.

“We called up artistes and friends and informed them about the release. The fear was that somebody may move court and try to stop its release as many thought the story had hurt a particular community to which I belong,” UR Ananthamurthy said.
