Lebanon: Armenian concert cancelled in Tripoli
An Armenian concert scheduled to be held at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Tripoli on 25 April 2015 was cancelled out of fear that it would be used to attack Turkish policy against Armenian people in the past and thus provoke Turkey.
According to As-Safir, one of Lebanon’s leading daily newspapers, The Association of Muslim Scholars expressed its objection to the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Tawfik Dabousi, stating the concert may lead to criticism against Turkey in Tripoli, resulting in Turkish anger. Accordingly, Dabousi cancelled the concert.
The Association of Muslim Scholars thanked the Chairman of the Chamber for the cancellation wishing that all organisations in the country would adopt the same approach as the Chamber of Commerce in order to avoid creating divisions among people.
