Nigeria: Popular musician arrested for song against president
A popular musician in Kano, Ahmed Audi Zarewa, has been reportedly arrested by the State Security Service, SSS, for recording a song to protest against President Goodluck Jonathan.
The song was said to have been recorded by Ahmed to protest President Jonathan and his entourage’s singing and dancing rally the very morning that more than 200 teenage girls were kidnapped from a high school in Chibok, Borno State.
According to a report posted on El-Rufai.org, the artist was said to have been arrested by the SSS on 29 April 2014 for allegedly recording a version of a Hausa folk song titled ‘Zuwan Mai Malfa Kano’.
