Russia: A gay writer talks about homophobia and libel under Putin
In times of crisis, Russia hunts for the enemy within; that’s what author and journalist Sergey Khazov tells Cathal Sheerin of PEN International when he asks him why there is so much anti-gay sentiment in his country.
Khazov is a gay Russian writer. Huffington Post asked a number of Russian journalists why they think Russia’s lawmakers passed the 2013 anti-gay ‘propaganda’ law which prohibits the ‘promotion’ of ‘non-traditional’ relationships.
